Gates Of Plaistow was established in 1987, Farther & two sons, supplying DIY fittings out of a small shop in Plaistow, East London.

From our humble beginnings through to today, we have applied the same fundamental principle of offering our customers an unrivalled personal service & through our product range, competitive pricing and reliable delivery network.

We work very closely with our suppliers to offer you the widest range of quality branded products at the best prices & with our buying power we are able to agree extra discounts and pass on the added value to every one of our customers.

Throughout the past 20 years, we have grown our business both organically and through acquisitions.

In 1996 we expanded to a bigger store & introduced a more extensive range of Internal & External Doors, Dulux Paint Mixing In Store, The Best in Italian Wallpapers & Borders, Electrical, Plumbing, Timber, Hand & Power Tools, Decorative Sundries, Quality Kitchens & Bathrooms, Household & commercial lighting, Security products, Kitchen appliances, Heating and Ventilation products.

In 2003 we launched our web site "gatesdiy.com & gatesofplaistow.com"

In 2004 we opened a new large store in close vicinity of The Canary Wharf Tower in the London Docklands area. Stocking all the major national brands in its own right offering both high quality and value to all our loyal customers in the New heart of The London City.

In 2005 we launched our new wholesale business "Gates Wholesale Ltd" supplying smaller independent DIY & Home Improvement Store's in and around London with many branded DIY & Home Improvement products, so they to can also enjoy selling items and low cut prices to compete with the Big DIY shed's.

In 2006 we changed the High Street retail trading name to "Gates DIY Stores" with all stores undergoing a complete refit and moderisation to keep up with the changing trends in the retail industry.

In 2007 the acquisitions of Bargaindoorsonline was a great step forward in our aim to achieve a large presence on the online DIY sales market in the UK.
